Hear Us! The Female Voice by Female Artists

Hear Us! is an all-media exhibition celebrating Women's History Month, presented by Art As Healing Foundation, Inc. at The Riverside Art Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The exhibition runs March 1-31, 2019. This regional call invites women artists 18 and older from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois to submit work exploring the feminine perspective and women's experiences, contributions, and voices.

Submissions must be wall-hanging works with a maximum size of 48" on the longest edge and 10" maximum depth. Three-dimensional work is not accepted unless it can hang on a wall. Artists may submit up to three individual works for consideration. Judging criteria include concept, composition, technique, execution, elements of design, uniqueness, and relatedness to the theme. Entry fee is $30.00 for up to three works. The deadline for submissions is February 7, 2019. Selected artists will be notified by February 11, 2019.

Selected artwork must be delivered to The Riverside Art Center (76 N Huron St., Ypsilanti, MI 48197) by February 23, 2019 between noon and 4 p.m. Shipping is available to Karyn Stetz, 2234 Woodview Dr., Suite 355, Ypsilanti, MI 48198. Prizes are $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $100 for third place. The sponsoring foundation retains 20% of any sales, plus 6% Michigan Sales Tax. Artists must provide their own insurance. Unsold works must be picked up by the first week of April; the organization cannot ship works back. The opening reception is Friday, March 1st from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
