Hawaii Contemporary Arts Exhibit

The East Hawaii Cultural Center invites artists of the state of Hawaii to enter the Hawaii Contemporary Arts Exhibit. Up to five works can be submitted to this open call for all media, including works based on literature/poetry expressing prose in space, 2D paintings, prints on paper, 3D works, sculpture, and multi-media. The exhibition will be juried by Patricia Salmon, a long-time member of the Hawaiian arts community and former gallerist specializing in early 20th century painting. Awards will be given for Literary Excellence, Aesthetic Harmony, and Conceptual Potency. In addition to the open call, the EHCC invites work that considers the 2017 theme of Isolation, though works do not have to follow this theme.

The entry fee is $50.00 ($25 for EHCC members). Work samples should include 1-5 images. The exhibition opening is Friday, September 1, 2017, and runs through September 30, 2017. All accepted work must be received on site at the EHCC Gallery by August 25, 2017. Selected artists are responsible for packing and paying for shipping and transit insurance of works to and from the East Hawaii Cultural Center, though works may also be hand delivered. All work should arrive ready to install. Works will be returned or available for pickup on October 2 and 3. All sales are shared 50/50 with EHCC and the artist.
