About This Call
The East Hawaii Cultural Center invites Hawaii artists to participate in Hawaii Contemporary Art 2018, a juried exhibition. Juror Henry Bianchini will select contemporary works in all media with no theme restrictions. All works are welcome for consideration.
Submission Requirements: Artists may submit 1-3 images and/or 0-3 videos (minimum 1 total sample). Entry fee is $20.00. CaFE submission deadline is August 24. Intake is September 1 at the EHCC Gallery. The exhibition runs September 7-28, 2018.
A special review panel representing the Mauna Kea Visitors Center (MKVC) will select approximately a dozen works from Big Island entries for a satellite gallery exhibition titled "Ka Pāheona Mauna Kea A Ko Hawaiʻi Nei" (artwork of Maunakea, a local perspective). Selected artwork should be inspired by Maunakea or related to Wao Akua, Wao La'ala'au, Kilo Hoku (astronomy), or similar themes. Artists selected for the MKVC exhibition must provide a brief artist statement. An estimated 300,000 people visit MKVC annually. A Hawaiian Cultural Practitioner from the Maunakea Visitor Information Station will participate in curating the selection. For more information, contact [email protected].
