Haunted Kitsap 2014 Photography Competition

The Haunted Kitsap Photography Competition is open to professional, student, and amateur photographers at least 13 years of age. Competition categories are Youth (under 18) and Adult (18 or older). Youth entrants may voluntarily compete in the Adult category. Original and unpublished photographs or photo-illustrations geographically set in Kitsap County or immediately adjacent waters taken during 2014 must be submitted by 11:59 PM Mountain Time on October 17, 2014. Entry fee is $25 for up to 3 images. Photographers may submit up to three total images; the same image cannot be submitted to more than one category.

Submissions must be digital files (color or black and white) and may have originated on film. Acceptable photographs may include minor burning, dodging, color correction, tinting, saturation, contrast, sharpening, and/or cropping. Fish-eye and wide angle lenses, filters, and standard photographic equipment are acceptable. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are acceptable if combined parts are made around the same time. Photo-illustrations that exceed minor adjustments and significantly distort the original image are also acceptable. Images must not contain full nudity, obscene, defamatory, violent, sexually explicit, or objectionable content. Images with signatures, watermarks, or graphic markings are disqualifying. Upon request, entrants must provide model releases for all submissions; if the subject is under 18, a written release from a parent or legal guardian is required.

Up to 50 finalists will be selected by October 13, 2014. Finalists must deliver framed, high-resolution prints (minimum 300dpi) ready for hanging to the organizer by October 20. Framed images must not exceed 22 inches at the outside edge. All items must be priced by the entrant for sale. The finalist exhibition with announcement of winners and cash prizes begins October 25 and runs through November 9, 2014. Half of sale proceeds (excluding taxes) go to the entrant; the remainder less expenses is donated to the 2015 Kitsap Arts & Crafts Festival. Entrants are responsible for all costs relating to delivery and return of unsold submissions. Net proceeds from entry fees after expenses will be donated to the 2015 Kitsap Arts & Crafts Festival committee.
