About This Call

The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville (CCGJ) and its Art in Public Places Committee, on behalf of Preston H. Haskell, is soliciting proposals for existing completed, permanent, contemporary outdoor sculptures to be privately funded and located on private property in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The objective is to place significant and impactful outdoor sculptures on private property visible from city streets throughout downtown. Locations will typically be plazas or open spaces at street level adjacent to principal high-rise buildings. This initiative contemplates approximately ten sculptures.

General sculpture specifications: Currently available for purchase and delivery with a delivered purchase price up to $45,000. Sculptures must be in the range of 20' to 30' height, contemporary and colorful in nature, appropriate to their specific location and high traffic public environment, designed with consideration of public safety, constructed of permanent long-lasting materials that are virtually maintenance free, designed to be structurally secured to concrete or masonry substrate, and capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions. Sculptures involving electric power, water, electronics, or based completely on light sources will not be considered.

Artists must submit a firm lump sum price proposal including travel, delivery to Jacksonville, unloading, insurance, and any required taxes or permits. The artist must deliver the sculpture within no more than 45 days from execution of the agreement and is responsible for repairing any damage during loading, transit, and unloading. Any required engineering design or calculations for structural integrity are the artist's responsibility, as is maintenance for one year after acceptance. Proposals must include images (minimum 1, maximum 8) of currently available sculptures with dimensions, material, and weight information, and a current artist resume with website address if available. There is no submission fee. Notification of acceptance/decline is scheduled for January 5, 2016, with delivery by March 4, 2016, and unveiling April 1, 2016.
