Harmonic Material: A Mixed Media Art Exhibit

Art Works Downtown invites visual artists to submit artworks using mixed media to achieve visual harmony. The exhibition intends to showcase artworks that combine a variety of materials to achieve visual, narrative, or compositional harmony, defined as a pleasing effect or balance with a sense of movement. The juror is TaVee McAllister Lee, Gallery Manager of Transmission Gallery Oakland.

Eligibility is limited to San Francisco Bay Area artists only (artist must live within 100 miles from San Rafael, California). Artwork must be 2D or 3D mixed-media visual art including three mediums or more, with a size limit of 72" including frame, stand, and all materials. Original artwork only; no reproductions. Images of explicit sexual content or graphic violence will not be considered. Submissions must not have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery. Entry fee is $40.00, and submissions require 1-3 images. Apply through CallForEntry.org only; hardcopy, email, or disk submissions will not be accepted.

Notification by email will be sent May 11-13. Accepted entries must be hand-delivered May 26-28, 1-8pm to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth St., San Rafael. The exhibition runs June 3-July 23, 2022, Thursday-Saturday, 1-8pm. Opening reception and Art Walk is June 10, 5-8pm; a second reception is July 8, 5-8pm (both subject to change depending on Covid safety). Unsold artwork pickup is July 28-30, 1-8pm. Art Works Downtown accepts a 40% donation upon sale. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged a storage fee of $3.00 per day; works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown.
