Happenstance: Found Object Sculpture Exhibition

Happenstance is a juried found object sculpture exhibition organized by the SAA Collective. Artists are invited to create sculptures using found objects (natural or non-natural materials must comprise at least 50% of the work) and elevate what has been forgotten or discarded.

Eligibility is open to all artists in Central Illinois. Work must be three-dimensional and created within the last two years. Artists may submit up to 3 entries for $35 (non-members) or $30 (SAA members). Each entry should include up to 2 images (1 full view and 1 detail or alternative view). The submission deadline is Friday, September 16, 2016. The juror will select 15-20 pieces for exhibition at the SAA Collective gallery in the Hoogland Center for the Arts from Friday, October 14 to Friday, November 11, 2016. All artists will be notified by email of jury results by Friday, September 30, 2016.

Awards include a $300 cash award for Best in Show and Honorable Mention Juror Awards. The Opening Reception is Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 PM. Accepted works must be delivered Friday, October 7 (1-7 PM) or Saturday, October 8 (noon-5 PM). The Springfield Art Association retains a 35% commission on all sales directly attributed to the exhibition. Works must be picked up by Saturday, November 12 at noon-6 PM or artists must provide prepaid return shipping.
