Handmade Photobook Exhibition 2025

The Griffin Museum is hosting its first exhibition dedicated to handmade photobooks. This call invites artists to submit handmade photobooks of any size, format, or style that are uniquely built by the artist, not published by online or commercial publishers. Entrants may submit up to three different titles. Photobooks will be juried by Sangyon Joo, founder of Datz Press, and judged on book design (page layouts, text, cover), strength of photography, and emotional impact of the overall book. All judging is at the complete discretion of the museum.

Submissions open March 21 and close April 27, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The entry fee is $35 for up to three books. Submissions must include a PDF of the photobook (up to 2MB), cover image, and up to 5 images from the book in JPEG format (1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5MB, sRGB color profile). All submissions must be original works of authorship created by the photographer who submits. Once entered, submissions are final with no changes or edits allowed.

Selected winners will send one physical copy of their photobook to the Griffin Museum for display in the Griffin Gallery from July through September 2025. Winners will have the option to donate their copy to the Griffin Library Collection.
