Handcrafted: A Juried Exhibition of Ceramics, Fiber, Glass, Metal, and Wood

The 23rd annual Handcrafted exhibition is open to all US artists 18 years of age or older working in ceramics, fiber, glass, metal, wood, paper, or any combination of craft medias. Work must be original (no kits), completed in the past two years, and not previously exhibited at the Arts Center.

Artists may submit up to four works for a non-refundable $25 entry fee. Each artwork may be represented by one image. Submissions are made through CaFE (www.CallForEntry.com). Entry deadline is October 15, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notifications to artists will be sent by mail the week of November 1, 2021, with winning artists called by phone.

Awards include an Acquisition Award of $1,000 (work becomes part of the Arts Center's Permanent Collection), First Place $300, Second Place $200, and Third Place $100. The juror is Anne Havel, an independent studio artist and instructor. The exhibition opens January 7, 2022, with an Artist Reception and Awards Presentation on January 16, 2022 at 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Maria V. Howard Arts Center, 270 Gay Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The exhibition closes April 17, 2022.

Accepted works must be completely dry, framed, wired, ready for hanging, or otherwise suitably prepared for exhibition. Works may not exceed 6 feet in any direction. Signed exhibition contracts are due by December 3, 2021. Accepted works must arrive by December 17, 2021. The Arts Center will retain 40% commission on works sold. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and return shipping arrangements. The Arts Center will insure accepted entries from receipt through May 18, 2022 for 60% of the retail price.
