Hamilton County/Findlay Market Parking Garage Mural

Hamilton County is constructing a new multi-story parking garage adjacent to the historic Findlay Market in the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. The 535-space public garage will include 15,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level. As part of this development, a south-facing 4-story tall area is reserved for a unique mural designed by a professional artist and produced on-site by a team of ArtWorks Youth Apprentices under the guidance of local professional Teaching Artists.

The mural should serve as a representation of the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood and Findlay Market, illustrating the beautiful activity and diversity of the space that brings together people from all walks of life. Successful artwork will be colorful and vibrant, depict movement and dynamism, and show the depth and intersection of people and place in OTR and Findlay Market. The mural should welcome and uplift residents and visitors and provide visual impact against the parking garage structure. Key themes include: welcoming and aspirational, iconic and eye-catching, vibrant and dynamic, inclusive and diverse, and community and connection.

The selected artist or artist team will produce and deliver design files to be executed by ArtWorks' professional Teaching Artists and Youth Apprentices. The on-site production team will paint the mural over 8 weeks beginning in June 2023 and concluding in August 2023. Artists selected to move forward into the RFP phase will be provided with site renderings, building elevations, dimensions, and available imagery. Applicants should submit 3-5 images of work samples. International applicants are eligible.
