About This Call
The Ford Family Foundation invites established practicing Oregon visual artists who are current legal residents of at least 36 months to submit qualifications for the Hallie Ford Fellowship in the Visual Arts, a one-time award of $35,000. The deadline for submission is 10:59 PM Pacific Time on February 20, 2020. Applications will only be accepted through the CaFÉ system from artists who meet the eligibility requirements. Late applications cannot be accepted and incomplete applications cannot be reviewed.
Eligibility requirements include: currently producing works of art in contemporary fine art and craft; full-time Oregon resident for at least 36 months prior to the application deadline; 30 years of age or older at time of application; evidence of seven or more years of serious, active professional participation in your medium; not enrolled in a degree-seeking program at time of application or during the grant period; and not previously named a Hallie Ford Fellow. The Foundation recognizes a broad array of contemporary visual arts practices and accepts applications from any visual arts medium, including social practice and media arts intended for installation, with the exception of those solely devoted to animation, film, or video.
Required application materials include: an artist statement (3,000 characters or fewer) describing your conceptual framework, media, how your work has evolved over the past 7-10 years, and how the Fellowship would enhance your work; a resume (one PDF or Word file, not exceeding three pages) with professional arts experience, education, and training; three professional references with contact information; and up to 14 images of work created within the past 7-10 years showing a range of artistic practice. One video (up to 1 minute) may be submitted as one of the 14 images. A jury of five arts professionals will review applications and recommend up to three finalists to the Foundation. The Foundation will confirm eligibility compliance and check references before awarding the Fellowships. Use of award funding is unrestricted.
