About This Call
The Ford Family Foundation's Visual Arts Program was established to honor co-founder Hallie Ford's commitment to Oregon and the visual arts. The program aims to accelerate artistic endeavor by mid-career Oregon visual artists and improve Oregon's visual arts ecology by providing resources and strategic investments.
Beginning in 2015, the Foundation awards up to five $25,000 Fellowships annually to Oregon visual artists who have demonstrated sophisticated exploration, significant future accomplishment potential, and need support for conceptualizing and creating new work. Beyond the Fellowship funds, the Foundation supports awardees through exhibition opportunities, catalogue production, and convenings for Fellows to share experiences and learn from one another.
Eligibility requires applicants to be practicing visual artists in fine and contemporary art and craft (excluding film, video, and animation); full-time Oregon residents for at least 36 months prior to the deadline; at least 30 years old; with seven or more years of serious professional participation in their medium; and not enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Applications must include an artist statement (2,000 characters maximum), a resume with three professional references (maximum three pages), and up to 14 sample images created within the past 7-10 years with titles, years, dimensions, and descriptions. A jury of five arts professionals will review applications and recommend up to five finalists. Fellowship announcements will occur during the first week of June 2015.
