About This Call
The Ford Family Foundation established the Hallie Ford Fellowship Visual Arts Program to recognize the legacy of co-founder Hallie E. Ford (1905-2007) and support Oregon's visual artists. The program aims to accelerate artistic endeavor and bodies of work by Oregon's established visual artists and those poised at pivotal points in their practice to make significant advancements.
The program awards three Hallie Ford Fellowships, each in the amount of $25,000, to Oregon visual artists who have demonstrated sophisticated exploration and potential for significant future accomplishment. These fellowships support the conceptualization and creation of new work. Awardees are encouraged to maintain association with the Foundation and other Fellows, creating a supportive community through convenings to share experiences and learn from one another.
Eligibility requires applicants to be practicing visual artists currently producing works in fine, contemporary art, and craft (excluding film, video, and animation); full-time Oregon residents for at least 36 months prior to the deadline; 30 years of age or older; with seven or more years of serious, active professional participation in their medium; and not enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Application materials must include an artist's statement (2,000 characters maximum), a professional resume (maximum 5 pages PDF) with three professional references, exactly ten images of past work with an accompanying image list (PDF) providing title, date, media, dimensions, and conceptual description, and answers to application questions. A jury of five arts professionals will review applications and recommend three finalists; the Foundation will confirm eligibility and conduct reference checks before awarding fellowships.
