H2O Mid-Atlantic

The Virginia Beach Art Center presents H2O Mid-Atlantic, a juried exhibition of water-related artwork from the Mid-Atlantic states. Artists from South Carolina to Pennsylvania are invited to explore our relationship to water through visual media.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18 or older who reside in SC, NC, VA, DC, MD, DE, or PA. Artwork must incorporate a reference to water and be original work created within the last two years without the aid of an instructor or kit. All styles and aesthetics are considered. Artists must include an interpretative statement (limit 1000 characters) with their submission.

Submission: Up to three artworks may be submitted with a $35 entry fee ($30 for AG Co-op artists and Art Center Annual Supporters). Submit one image per artwork via CAFE. Application deadline: May 7, 2021. Exhibition runs June 4-27, 2021, with an awards presentation livestream on Facebook June 4 at 7 pm.

Awards: $2000 total in cash awards including Best in Show ($1000), Award of Excellence ($350), Award of Merit ($250), Most Creative ($100), and four Honorable Mentions ($75 each). The exhibition is juried by Vanessa Thaxton-Ward, Ph.D., Director of the Hampton University Museum.

Work Requirements: All artworks must be for sale and remain on premises for the exhibition duration. Hanging works may not exceed 50" in width (including frame) and must not protrude more than 12" from the wall. Free-standing works may not exceed 36" in length or width. Works cannot exceed 40 pounds. Gallery wraps accepted only if image continues onto all four sides. Artists are responsible for shipping costs. Shipped works must arrive May 28-June 1; hand-delivered works by 5 pm June 1. Artists must provide pre-paid return labels. Commission is 70% to artist/30% to gallery (75%/25% for AG artists).
