GWS 45th National Juried Exhibition

The Georgia Watercolor Society is hosting its 45th National Juried Exhibition at the Abernathy Arts Center in Sandy Springs. The exhibition is juried by Eudes Correia, with anticipated awards totaling $10,000, including a first prize of $2,000.

Entry fee is $60 for non-members or $35 for members, covering up to three images. All paintings must be original work using water-soluble media including watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera, acrylic ink, and batik using watermedia. Allowed surfaces include paper, Yupo, watercolor canvas, canvas, Claybord, Aquabord, rice paper, and Tyvek. Work must be completed after January 1, 2022, and cannot be copies, likenesses, or derivatives of another's work, nor work done under workshop or classroom supervision. Previously exhibited GWS works are not eligible.

All paintings must be framed in wood or metal (gold, silver, black, brown, white, or natural wood tones) with plain, unadorned frames not exceeding 3" in width. Plexiglass is required unless the work is varnished or waxed. Maximum frame size cannot exceed 48" in either direction, and the image size within the mat must be no smaller than 80 square inches with no side smaller than 8 inches. Mats must be untextured white or off-white paper with a single opening.

Shipped work must arrive between March 20-23, 2024, using UPS or FedEx with Airfloat or Masterpack foam-lined boxes and a prepaid return shipping label. Hand-delivered paintings must arrive on March 23, 2024, between 11 am and 2 pm. The exhibition opens April 2 and closes May 17. Pick-up is May 18, 2024, between 11 am and 2 pm.
