About This Call
The Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District is requesting Expressions of Interest from professional artists who would like to compete for a commission of an art installation at the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP). Three major themes have been chosen and 15 potential sites identified for the placement of artwork.
Art installations at GSP can function as "way finding" devices and create easily-remembered meeting places while contributing to the airport's sense of place. The District is requiring commissioned work to reinforce themes relevant to the region and community through coordination with the terminal building's colors, materials, and architectural expression. The three themes are: Where we live (integration of water and landscape); Where we've come from (textile capital of the world); and Where we're going (technology and mobility).
Artists submitting concepts must demonstrate how their proposed concepts support one or more of the identified themes. Work sample requirements: 1-6 images, 0-6 videos, with a total of 1-6 samples. Up to 4 applications are allowed per artist. For complete details, visit www.gspairport.com and click on the Phase 2 Art Program slider on the Home Page or Business Opportunities and then the Call to Artist RFP.
