Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey, Michigan is accepting submissions for the exhibition "Great." The Great Lakes that surround Michigan's peninsulas are powerful, life-sustaining resources. This exhibition asks Great Lakes-area artists to share original works of art that reflect on the theme "Great." Accepted works will demonstrate a meaningful connection or response to the Great Lakes. Artists are encouraged to consider the theme broadly and creatively, with possible approaches including responses to the Great Lakes, environmental concerns, cultural connections, interpretations of the concept "Great" or "Greatness," personal experiences, and depictions of the Great Lakes. All media are eligible for entry.

This call is open to artists working in the Great Lakes Region: Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Artists must be United States residents, 18 years and older. The entry fee is $35.00 per artist ($20.00 for CTAC members, free for Guild Members). Artists may submit up to three entries, with a maximum of three images, three audio files, or three video files. Works must be original and not previously exhibited at Crooked Tree Arts Center. Accepted two-dimensional artwork must be framed and wired for hanging.

The exhibition will be on display in Petoskey's Gilbert Gallery from January 18 - April 3, 2020. Submissions are accepted online from October 18 - November 30, 2020. Notification will be sent by Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Work must be delivered to Crooked Tree Arts Center between January 4 - 9, 2021. Unsold artwork must be picked up during gallery hours on April 6 - 10, 2021, or by appointment. Three cash prizes will be awarded: First Place $1000, Second Place $500, Third Place $250. Susan Moran, a textile artist and faculty member at College for Creative Studies in Detroit and Wayne State University, will serve as awards juror. The exhibition will also be viewable online at www.crookedtree.org.
