Grayscale: A Picture Show

Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition themed on black and white imagery. The exhibition seeks a diversity of photographic works exploring the classic, nostalgic, and dynamic qualities of black and white photography, as well as contemporary approaches to this tradition.

Entry fee is $40. Photographers may submit 1-5 images. The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has extensive experience as a portfolio reviewer and independent curator. The deadline for submissions is July 12, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. All photographers will be notified 7-10 days after the deadline about juror selections.

The exhibition runs August 1-20, 2022. Twenty-four photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery, and an additional 30 photographs will be selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected works. Exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future sale and promotion. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may request that their print not be for sale and be used for exhibition and promotion only. All rights remain with the photographer.
