Gravity of the Heart

The "Gravity of the Heart" project explores the many ways men and women approach or avoid heartbreak, and how it influences the decisions we make in our lives. The project culminates in a two-week exhibit from February 12 to March 4, 2016, at ArtBrokers Gallery in San Rafael, with an artist reception on February 12, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Open to artists and writers 18 and over living in the Bay Area. Submit digital images of original artwork depicting your interpretation of "Gravity of the Heart." Artwork must not have been previously shown. Open to all 2D media and wall-mountable 3D artwork (poetry and literature must be wall-mountable). No video or audio. Submissions must be received by January 6, 2016. Accepted entries will be notified via email by January 14, 2016.

Entry fee: $20 per entry (maximum 3 entries per individual). 2D artwork size limit: 40 inches height, 32 inches width framed; total weight with frame not to exceed 45 pounds. 3D artwork must be wall-hangable with total weight not exceeding 45 pounds. Each piece must be accompanied by an artist statement not exceeding 500 words. Awards: First Place $250, Second Place $100, Third Place $50. Artwork delivery by ship must be received by January 20, 2016, or hand-delivered on January 22, 2016 (noon to 5 p.m.) or January 24, 2016 (noon to 3 p.m.). All accepted artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit. Artwork will be shipped for return during the week of March 7, 2016, or picked up March 5 and 7 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
