About This Call
The City of Phoenix Housing Department is seeking qualified Graphic Designers and 2D and 3D Artists for public art projects in the Edison-Eastlake Community (EEC). The selected artists will work with the City, design team, and community to create integrated art designs for permanent functional elements including concrete walls, fencing, gates, murals, gateway monuments, lighting, and landscaping. Artists may submit to be considered for one or more categories.
Graphic Designers should have 3+ years of experience, solid skills in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, strong written and verbal communication skills, and proven ability to create dynamic design work. Designers will create collateral materials such as brochures, publications, logos, and other public outreach works, and may work on specific public art pieces or educational outreach projects.
2D and 3D Artists should have expertise in their respective medium, collaborative design experience, proven proficiency with permanent outdoor art installations, and ability to develop successful designs for permanent functional elements. All enhancements must be fully integrated into the overall project and made of durable, weather-resistant materials. Selected artists will be asked to grant the City non-exclusive rights to display and reproduce work produced for these projects for non-commercial purposes. The Housing Department anticipates 5-10 projects over the next five years. Submission requires 1-6 images. There are no geographic restrictions to applying.
