Grant Ave Junction Walls – Ogden Utah

Ogden City's Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or artist team to design and create public art for the Grant Ave Junction Walls Project. The selected artist or artist team will work with Ogden City Arts staff and the Ogden City Arts Advisory Committee to create public art placed at five separate wall panels along the Grant Ave promenade.

The project involves integrating public art on five west-facing walls of the Junction Parking structure, each roughly 30' x 50', spanning two blocks. The selection committee seeks timeless and forward-thinking work that may be abstract or incorporate components relevant to the diversity of the Ogden community and history. All proposals must use durable, low-maintenance, and weather-resistant media suitable for significant sun exposure. Artwork should have a significant presence in daylight and at night, with lighting of the artwork or integrated lighting being significant to enhance the promenade and increase walkability.

The budget for this commission is $175,000, inclusive of all costs including design fee, consultation fees, engineering documents, insurance, materials, fabrication, transportation, permits, installation, site modifications, travel, per diem, project documentation, and contingency. Eligible applicants are US citizen or legal resident artists/artist teams; Utah artists are strongly encouraged to apply. Employees of Ogden City are not eligible. Applicants must submit a letter of interest (no more than 700 words), CV/resume (no more than two pages), up to three professional references, and up to ten images of previous site-specific public work through CaFE at www.callforentry.org. Complete applications must be received by August 31, 2020, by midnight MDT. Up to three artists or artist teams may be selected to share preliminary concepts and will receive an honorarium applied toward the commission amount if selected.
