About This Call
The Grand Marais Arts Festival is a microcosm of the dynamic Midwest art scene. Nestled between the horizon line of Lake Superior and the wilderness of boreal forests and serene lakes, the Festival draws over 10,000 visitors. Artists of all mediums are invited to submit quality, original artwork. The 34th Annual Grand Marais Arts Festival will be in its traditional harbor front location and will include a smaller, more curated festival with 60 booths. An average attendance of 10,000+ is expected with reported average sales per artist of $3,100. There are 60 10x10 booths available with no electric access.
Applications must be received by February 24th, 2025. Participation is contingent upon acceptance by the external jury committee. Notification of acceptance will be sent by March 10th. Accepted artists must pay booth fee by March 21st, 2025, or forfeit their place. The application fee is $35 and booth fee is $225. Five images of artwork are required for submission via Zapplications. Two artists may share one booth space if both are accepted by the jury.
The external jury is comprised of professional artists and arts retailers who score based on excellence in composition and design (30%), originality and clarity of artistic intent (30%), cohesive body of work and visual voice (30%), and customer appeal and salability (10%). Awards include Best of Show and Best Booth, with winners automatically accepted into the next year's show with waived jury fees. Festival hours are 9am-5pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday. This is an outdoor event and artists must provide their own 10x10 tent.
