GRACE: Expression Through CLAY

GRACE is a call for ceramic artwork representative of grace and its role in our lives. All types of ceramic work are welcome. The exhibition will be juried anonymously through the submission of digital images by 2023 Western New Mexico University Visiting Artist George Rodriguez.

The exhibition takes place at Light Art Space, 209 West Broadway, Silver City, NM 88061, from June 30 - July 29, 2023. A public reception will be held June 30th from 5-7 pm, and a visiting artist gallery talk and reception is scheduled for June 14th from 6-8 pm. Awards will be announced during the Silver City CLAY Festival (July 10-16, 2023): $300 for First Place (Tad Van der Weele Memorial Award), $200 for Second Place, and $100 for Third Place.

Eligibility is open to artists 18 years and older, residing in the United States and internationally. Entry fee is $30 for one entry, $35 for two entries, and $40 for three entries. Each artist may submit a maximum of 3 entries, with 1-3 images per entry. All works must have been completed in the last year and entries shown in previous CLAY Festival juried exhibitions will not be accepted. Accepted entries must be made of natural clay with no restrictions on design, finish, or technique. Size limits: free standing pieces no taller or wider than 24" and no heavier than 20 lbs (must be stable and pedestal ready); wall pieces no taller or wider than 24" and no heavier than 10 lbs (must be ready to hang securely). All accepted entries must be for sale during the exhibition, with Light Art Space retaining 50 percent of the total sale price. Artists are responsible for shipping and insuring accepted work to and from the exhibition. Hand delivery and pickup are acceptable. Shipped works must be sent in easily reusable containers with prepaid return shipping and insurance. Submission deadline is May 31st, 2023 at 11:59 PM MST. Notification of accepted entries will be sent June 7th, and accepted works must be received by June 22nd.
