Governor's Capitol Art Exhibition 2016

Established in 2000, the Governor's Capitol Art Exhibition and Sale celebrates the work of Wyoming artists. The juried group show creates a dedicated collection of original Wyoming regional art for display in state offices. Works receiving purchase awards join this growing collection. Proceeds from additional sales are utilized to purchase works for the permanent art collection of the Wyoming State Museum. The exhibit will be displayed at the Wyoming State Museum January 5 – March 5, 2016, with purchase awards presented at a reception in February 2016.

All Wyoming visual artists working and living in the state are invited to enter. Artists must be Wyoming residents and either US citizens or legal residents over the age of 18. You must be an Artist Image Registry (AIR) member with the Wyoming Arts Council to enter; participation is free and requires a simple form and a CD with five images. Works must be either two- or three-dimensional, original, and completed within the last three years. Works included in previous Governor's Capitol Art Exhibitions will not be considered. Installation projects and video works are not eligible due to spatial restraints.

There is no entry fee. Artists may submit up to three works for juried review, with selection made from digital images. Artwork submitted must be for sale; the Wyoming State Museum retains a 40% commission on all pieces sold. The exhibition gives more than $10,000 in awards, including Purchase Awards, Governor's Choice Award, Bobby Hathaway Juror's Choice Award, and People's Choice Recognition.
