About This Call
The Indiana Arts Commission seeks an artist to create 3–5 editions of a unique artwork that includes material from the Indiana Constitution Elm tree to serve as an award for the 2015 Governor's Arts Awards, which will be held in April 2016. The project budget is $5,000. If an additional number of awards are needed, the Indiana Arts Commission will work with the selected artist on payment details.
Proposals must embody a standard of excellence, incorporate material from the Constitution Elm tree (provided by the Indiana Arts Commission), and be of a weight and scale that is easily handled and presented by one person. All visual artists 18 years of age and older who are currently legal residents of Indiana are invited to submit proposals. The artist must remain a resident of Indiana during the process of creating the awards. The deadline to submit proposals is 4:30 p.m. (EST) on September 15, 2015. The selected applicant will be notified in October 2015, and fabrication of the awards must be completed by March 1, 2016.
Submissions must include: a letter of interest and concept narrative (two pages or less) outlining your approach to incorporating the Constitution Elm material; a professional resume or CV (no longer than two pages); names and contact information of three professional references; and five digital images in JPEG format illustrating your work with title, materials, dimensions, and year for each artwork. All submissions must be made through the CaFÉ website (www.callforentry.org). For more information, contact Rex Van Zant, Director of Marketing & Communications, Indiana Arts Commission, at (317) 232-1273 or [email protected].
