About This Call
Goldsmith '20 is an open call to all current members of SNAG. You must be a current member of SNAG to enter, and if your piece is accepted, your membership must remain current through the end of the exhibition.
As a continuation of SNAG's 50th Anniversary Celebrations, this exhibition pays homage to the past while looking ahead to the future. The original Goldsmith '70 exhibition was held in 1970 at the Minnesota Museum of Art in Minneapolis and was curated by Stanley Lechtzin and John Prip. For Goldsmith '20, artists are invited to find an artist from the original 1970 exhibition and use one of their pieces to influence their own creation. Entries may be an image of the finished piece or a drawing of the piece you plan to make. Only original works or drawings of original works may be submitted. The exhibition will take place in May 2020 during the SNAG conference in Philadelphia, with exact dates to be announced.
Submissions must include 1-3 images (the third image should be of the piece that inspired your work). The entry fee is $35.00 for SNAG members only. All entries must be received by September 16, 2019 at 11:59 PM MT. Maximum size for finished pieces is 8"x8"x8" and maximum weight is 15 lbs. All artwork must be priced for sale. Artists will retain 50% of any piece sold. Artists are responsible for delivery of artwork to the exhibition; SNAG will be responsible for return shipping and insurance of unsold pieces and delivery of sold work to purchasers. Notification of acceptance will be sent October 31, 2019. Direct questions to Elizabeth Shypertt at [email protected].
