About This Call

The Golden Spot Artist Residency is an eight-week program for Oregon's mid-career visual artists, taking place January 20–June 30, 2015. Residents must be practicing visual artists, full-time Oregon residents for at least 36 months prior to the application deadline, 30 years of age or older, with seven or more years of active professional participation in their medium, and not enrolled in a degree-seeking program. The College seeks excellent candidates whose careers have attracted critical attention on an international and/or national level, such as through inclusion in a biennial, gallery representation, or coverage in recognized art publications.

Resident artists are expected to pursue a clearly articulated body of work or project while integrating their practice into OCAC's academic programming and community. Specific involvement may include teaching workshops for students, guest lecturing, giving public lectures, providing mentorship, participating in open studios, and/or collaborating with faculty or students. Applicants will be judged on the quality of their portfolios, the originality and scope of their residency proposals, their potential for working within a community of makers, and the relevance of their proposal to OCAC's resources.

Benefits include a $5,000 stipend for travel and living expenses, use of media-specific studios, on-campus housing if needed, one tuition-free Studio School continuing education class or workshop, focused time for studio engagement, and supportive interaction with fellow artists and students. Applicants must submit 10 images of their work. The application deadline is November 30, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
