GoFarm Shipping Container Mural

GoFarm is seeking an artist to design and paint murals for 2 shipping containers located in Arvada, Colorado. The first container must be completed by May 1, 2018, with the second container to be painted later in the summer (around July/August). Each design must represent the GoFarm mission to increase the supply of and access to affordable, fresh, local food in Colorado, as well as the community and neighborhood in which the container is located. Local Colorado artists are preferred but not required.

Shipping Container Details: Three sides of each container require painting—two larger sides (8.5' x 20') and one side (8' x 8.5'). Container 1 is located at Jeffco Head Start (150 Allison St, Arvada, CO 80002) and Container 2 at Centura's Arvada Neighborhood Health Center (16280 W 64th Ave, Arvada, CO 80007). The external material is corrugated steel siding. Designs must be in full color, prominently display the GoFarm logo, and each container must have a unique design representing its respective neighborhood.

Submission Requirements: By March 28, 2018, artists must submit one or more renderings for each shipping container, including three detailed scale drawings representing each of the three paintable sides with at least one color to-scale rendering (10" x 12" or larger). GoFarm will select winning designs by April 3, 2018, and the winner should expect edits and feedback. Upon written approval, the artist will paint the containers in an enclosed work space provided by GoFarm. GoFarm will host unveiling events for both containers (Centura Health in mid-May, Head Start later in the season), and the artist is requested to attend.

Compensation: The winning artist will receive $250 per container upon design approval for supplies (containers come primed), plus an additional $2,250 per container upon satisfactory completion and public unveiling, totaling $5,000. The artist will also receive a free GoFarm Vegetable Food Share for the 2018 20-week season and publicity/recognition at the unveiling events. GoFarm will not reimburse additional supply costs beyond the $5,000 prize.
