About This Call
The Dairy Arts Center invites artists with ties to Colorado who self-identify as members of the AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) community to submit work for the Go West Exhibition 2025. This group exhibition will explore how stories of migration, settlement, and identity from the global "East" to the global "West" have both embraced and challenged the legacy of the American West.
Inspired by the phrase "Go West, young man," the exhibition reinterprets the 19th-century rallying cry that shaped westward expansion. The title evokes the American romance with the frontier while resonating with multiple dimensions of the AAPI experience: migration, expansion, ambition, and an evolving sense of identity. Artists are encouraged to submit works exploring themes of migration, identity, belonging, and transformation. All visual art mediums are welcome, including painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, performance, new media, photography, textiles, and installation. Applications may be submitted by individual artists or collectives, with each artist or group submitting one application. Submit 2-10 work samples (any media accepted). Entry fee is $40 (non-refundable; fee waivers available upon request). The exhibition will be juried by Rajiv Menon, founder of Rajiv Menon Contemporary in Los Angeles, and Roseline Neveling, founder of Neveling Arts+Culture in New York City, working with The Dairy's Curator of Visual Arts, Stella Witcher.
Selected artists will collaborate with the curatorial team to refine or create original works for exhibition in the McMahon Gallery at The Dairy Arts Center. The exhibition runs May 16 – June 29, 2025, with an opening reception on May 16 from 5-8pm. Artist selection will be announced January 10, 2025. Works for display should be for sale but is not required; The Dairy retains a 40% commission on artwork sold. The Dairy will provide exhibition documentation, opening reception, studio visits, marketing, and curatorial advising. Artists are responsible for shipping costs unless otherwise arranged. Deinstallation is June 30, 2025, with works packed and shipped back within two weeks.
