About This Call
The City of Glenwood Springs, Colorado is seeking talented artists to contribute to a Public Art Project on September 28 and 29, 2024. Artists are invited to create murals on specific electric boxes and a large park wall that capture the unique spirit of Glenwood Springs and celebrate the community, natural beauty, and shared experiences.
Proposed murals should embody one or more of the following themes: Water (reflecting the importance of hot springs and rivers), Two Rivers (highlighting the confluence of the Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers), Convergence of People and Rivers (depicting the harmonious interaction between community and natural waterways), or Gathering Spaces (illustrating community parks and spaces where residents and visitors come together).
Eligibility: Artists must be at least 13 years old and full-time Colorado residents. Artists aged 13-17 must have a legal guardian's signed release and carry emergency contacts while on site. Submissions must include a detailed sketch or digital rendering of the proposed mural, an artist statement (up to 1,000 words) explaining the concept and its relation to the theme, a portfolio of past work (1-3 pieces), specified dimensions and scale, a list of materials and installation requirements, and a project budget. Selected artists will receive an honorarium to cover materials and labor, with additional support for travel and accommodation if needed. Artist notification is August 26, 2024. Contact Steve Frederick, Recreation Manager, at [email protected] or 970-384-6311 for more information.
