About This Call
The City of Glendale is seeking artists to create up to ten long-term to permanent public artwork installations throughout the city. As part of Glendale's initiative to become an arts and culture destination in the Los Angeles metropolitan region, this call invites artists to develop world-class public artwork in diverse mediums designed to engage the community, showcase cultural diversity, and enhance civic and public spaces.
Three separate project opportunities are available at Pacific Park, located just outside the neighborhood library, with budgets of $75,000, $50,000, and $150,000–$200,000 respectively. Each location requires unique mediums and imaginative, forward-thinking approaches. Artists and artist teams may apply for one or multiple opportunities. Eligibility is open to artists age 18 or older, with no geographic restrictions. Artists who can demonstrate the ability to oversee design, fabrication, and installation of public works, or who have experience working with design/build/engineering/fabrication teams, are particularly encouraged to apply. Artists from traditionally and historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
Application deadline: January 30, 2026 (5pm PST). Shortlist selected February 27, 2026. Shortlisted artists will begin conceptual designs in March 2026 and present concepts at the Arts and Culture Commission Meeting on May 21, 2026. Finalists' concepts will be presented at the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission Meeting (June/July 2026) and City Council Meeting (July/August 2026) for final approval. Installation deliveries are estimated to begin Fall 2026.
