About This Call
The Gilpin County Arts Association (GCAA) invites artists to participate in its 76th Annual Juried Art Show, running June 10 through August 19, 2023. GCAA hosted its first juried show in 1947 and is the longest continuously running juried show in Colorado and the Midwest.
Eligibility: Open to artists in all 50 states. Only original works of art completed by the artist within the last 3 years are eligible. Work previously shown in GCAA Galleries is not eligible. Work from kits or executed in a class or workshop will not be eligible. Paintings must be original; if copied, copy your subject only from photographs taken by the artist. All jewelry entries must be at least 75% handmade by the artist. Entry fee is $50 for non-members and $40 for current GCAA members. Artists are encouraged to join GCAA, which provides a $10 discount on entry fees, opportunity to exhibit in the Members' Gallery, 10% discount on gallery purchases, and email updates about events and exhibitions.
Over $3,000 in cash awards are available, including a $500 Best of Show. Awards are given for 2D, 3D/Mixed media, and Photography: three first place awards of $400 each, three second place awards of $300 each, three third place awards of $200 each, and three honorable mentions of $100 each. Jurors are Sarah J. Magnatta (2D), Meryl Sabeff Potter (3D), and Todd Pierson (Photography), with Carol Newsom as judge for awards.
Submissions must be made online through CaFE at https://artist.callforentry.org. Each 2D artist and photographer may submit up to three entries per entry fee. 3D artists may submit a collection of up to six pieces displayed within three images. Images must be JPEG or JPG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB, with sRGB color profile. Accepted work must be delivered by May 28, 2023. All work must be for sale and remain on display for the duration of the show. GCAA takes a 40% commission on all work sold; artists receive 60% of the set price. Work is insured while on display at the gallery.
