About This Call
Gilded is an exhibition of artworks that incorporate gilded elements. Gilding is the art of decorating and covering surfaces with a thin layer of gold or other metal, such as silver, palladium, aluminum, and copper. The d'Art Center is looking for works that highlight the unique uses and applications of these metals. 2D and 3D works in all mediums are eligible, however, the gilded elements must be an integral part of the artwork.
Works cannot exceed a weight of 50 pounds and cannot be longer or larger than 60 inches in their longest dimension. Size and weight restrictions may be waived by contacting the Gallery Manager directly prior to submission. The entry fee is $35 for 3 submissions, with each additional submission up to 10 total costing $5 more. A $5 media fee also applies. Minimum image submission is 3 images; maximum is 10. Artists must submit original work created within the last eight years without the aid of an instructor or kit. All styles and aesthetics are considered, and work must be hang or pedestal ready. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States.
The exhibition runs Saturday, May 31st through Saturday, June 28th, 2025, with a reception on Thursday, June 6th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Accepted works must arrive by 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24th, 2025. Artists will be notified by email by 5 p.m. Monday, April 14th, 2025. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). The d'Art Center takes a 60/40 commission on sales (60% artist, 40% d'Art Center). The artist is responsible for shipping costs. Works must include pre-paid return labels through UPS or FedEx. Hand deliveries are accepted by pre-arrangement. Works not picked up within one month of the exhibition end become property of the d'Art Center.
