About This Call
The City of Frisco Public Art Program is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ #2505-085) for a public art opportunity at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center (City Hall), located at 6101 Frisco Square Blvd, Frisco, TX 75034. The artist chosen will be commissioned to create a hanging artwork in the newly renovated vestibule of the main entrance that will welcome visitors and serve as a lasting symbol for the space. The artwork will be visible to visitors approaching the building and from interior spaces on multiple floors in the lobby atrium. The maximum available space is approximately 16ft L x 8ft W x 13ft H. Four attachment points with a combined weight capacity of 1,000 pounds will be preinstalled; no structural changes to the building will be made. Access for lighting the artwork will be available.
The public art must represent the site, be safe and hazard-free, and be made of low-maintenance, durable materials resistant to vandalism. All materials must be approved by City of Frisco staff. The artist must work with project designers and a Texas-licensed engineer, and a building permit will be required. Installation is scheduled for Fall 2026.
The project budget is $211,000 all-inclusive, covering artist fee, fabrication costs, transportation, insurance, engineering services, permit fees, site prep, installation, and related expenses. Three finalists will each receive $3,000 to create design concepts for review. Eligibility is national. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. CDT, Sunday, June 29, 2025, and must include a cover letter, artist resume, artist statement, three references, and 10-15 images of past work (with the first five being most relevant to this RFQ). Questions should be submitted to Stephen Ross at [email protected] by 4:00 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 13.
