Gender in the Balance: National Juried Exhibition

Gender in the Balance is a national juried art exhibition seeking artwork submissions that explore gender's place in contemporary art and culture. The exhibition welcomes works that engage with aesthetics of "feminine" and "masculine" representation as well as works that explore gender beyond the binary to usher in fluid and inclusive expressions of identity. Artworks that situate gender within its complex intersections with race, class, and sexuality are also invited. A wide range of media and genres are welcome, including painting, drawing, collage, photography, printmaking, digital media, ceramics, textiles, video, and installation works.

Entry Deadline: May 22, 2019. Exhibition Dates: August 3 – September 14, 2019. Juror: Judith K. Brodsky, Distinguished Professor Emerita, Visual Arts, Rutgers University and Founding Director, The Brodsky Center, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Entry Fee: $45 for non-members ($35 for members) for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image. Submitters may include 3-10 images and 0-7 videos. Prizes: $500 Juror's Prize, $200 Second Prize, $125 Honorable Mention. Notification of acceptance: 10-14 days from deadline. Delivery dates: Saturday, July 20 or Monday-Tuesday, July 22-23, 2019 (or by special arrangement). BAC collects 20% commission on artwork by members; 30% on non-member artwork.
