About This Call
This is a call for OMA Artist Alliance members to submit entries for Gathering Light: Reflections on Renewal, an exhibition at Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th in San Diego. Artwork will be juried and exhibition layout designed by juror and curator Kate Ashton. The exhibition is not strictly themed, but artists are encouraged to submit work representing their interpretation of the title. Consider artworks that are luminous, bright, hopeful, reflective either literally or in concept, and reviving in spirit. The juror will select work that creates the strongest show when considering all works in context with others selected, and may not necessarily select work based on adherence to the exhibition title.
Entry fee is $20 for the first submission and $10 for each additional submission. Scholarships are available; contact [email protected] for consideration. All submissions must be original works of art. No giclees or other reproductions are accepted, with the exception of limited edition prints and photography. Artwork may be in any media or style, and tasteful nudity is acceptable. Wall-mounted work has a maximum of 60" width and 84" height including frame, with a maximum weight of 20 pounds. Freestanding three-dimensional work must be appropriate for display on a 12" x 12" x 40" pedestal. Works on paper must be framed with simple, neutral frames. D-rings must be installed on the back of all wall-mounted work at precisely equal distances from the top.
Artists must be current OMA members with the Artist Alliance affiliate membership add-on to participate. Membership can be joined online at oma-online.org/membership, by phone at (760) 435-3724, or in person at Oceanside Museum of Art, 704 Pier View Way, Oceanside, CA. Deadline to submit is Wednesday, December 4, 2024, 10:59 PM PST. Notifications of selected artworks will be sent on or before Thursday, December 19, 2024. Art drop-off is Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 8, 2025, 10:00 AM–3:00 PM. Artwork under 60" may be shipped to arrive before January 6, 2025. The exhibition runs Saturday, January 11–February 5, 2025, with a public reception on Saturday, January 11, 2025, 4:00–7:00 PM. Artwork pickup is scheduled for February, dates to be confirmed.
