GATHERING: Contemporary Glass from the Heartland 2016

GATHERING: Contemporary Glass from the Heartland is a juried exhibition showcasing emerging and established glass artists from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. The exhibition is sponsored by the Indiana Glass Arts Alliance (IGAA), Ball State University School of Art, and Goezler Investment Management. The exhibition runs Tuesday, September 27 – Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Atrium Gallery, Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana.

Eligibility is open to artists who are at least 18 years old and connected to the region by birth, residency, or schooling from a degree-granting institution (current residency not required). Submitted artwork must have been completed in the past two years (2014-2016), use glass as its main medium, and not have been previously accepted or included in IGAA's 2014 or 2015 exhibitions. Artists may submit up to three works of art for a $40 non-refundable entry fee. Digital submissions should include a maximum of two images per artwork. Artwork may not exceed approximately 13 feet in vertical dimension and may not exceed 250 pounds in total weight.

Artists compete for up to $2,500 in total cash awards. Jurors include Carmen Lozar and Jeff Ballard. Accepted artists will be notified by email the week of August 22, 2016. An opening reception will be held Friday, September 30, 2016, 4pm-6pm EST, followed by a demonstration by juror Jeff Ballard at the Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass. Artwork must be delivered to the gallery by September 16, 2016. All artwork must be reasonably priced and available for sale. The Atrium Gallery will insure all artwork while on its premises. Payment to artists for sales or awards will occur 3-4 weeks after the exhibition closes.
