About This Call

GATHERING: Contemporary Glass from the Heartland is a juried exhibition showcasing the best of emerging and established glass artists from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Wisconsin. It is sponsored by the Indiana Glass Arts Alliance (IGAA), a non-profit organization located in Indianapolis, Indiana in partnership with the Indiana Glass Trail. The exhibition runs Friday, September 25 – Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Indianapolis Art Center, Sarah M. Hurt and Allen W. Clowes Galleries, 820 East 67th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220.

Eligibility is open to any artist who is 18 years or older and connected to the region by birth, residency or schooling (from a degree granting institution), though current residency is not required. Submitted artwork must have been completed in the past two years (2013-2015), use glass as its main medium, and have not been previously accepted or included in IGAA's 2013 or 2014 exhibitions. A $35 non-refundable entry fee entitles artists to submit up to three works of art. Artists may submit a maximum of two digital images per artwork. Work may not exceed approximately 7 feet in any one dimension and may not exceed 250 lbs in total weight. The gallery cannot accommodate artwork requiring video display.

Artists compete for $2500 in total cash awards, with jurors deciding the number and amount for each award. Awards will be announced at the Opening Reception on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 6pm-8pm EST. Only artists with accepted artwork will be notified by email the week of August 10, 2015. After acceptance, no artwork substitutions or withdrawals are allowed unless the artwork has been damaged during shipment. The Indianapolis Art Center will insure all artwork while on its premises. A 35% commission fee applies to sales, and payment to artists will occur 2-3 weeks after the exhibition closes on November 22, 2015.
