About This Call
GATHERING: Contemporary Glass from the Heartland is a juried exhibition showcasing emerging and established glass artists from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. The exhibition runs September 5-26, 2014 at Gallery 924 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The opening reception is Friday, September 5th, 6pm-9pm EST.
Eligibility: Artists must be at least 18 years old and connected to the region by birth, residency, or schooling from a degree-granting institution (current residency not required). Submitted artwork must be completed within the past two years (2012-2014), use glass as its main medium, and not have been previously accepted in IGAA's 2012 or 2013 exhibitions. Entry fee is $35 (non-refundable) and allows submission of up to three works of art, with up to two images per artwork. Artists compete for $2,500 in total cash awards, with jurors deciding the number and amount for each award.
Jurors are Katherine Gray (Associate Professor at California State University, San Bernardino) and Amber Cowan (faculty member at Tyler School of Art). Only artists with accepted artwork will be notified by email the week of August 11, 2014. All artwork must be available for purchase. Gallery 924 processes sales and retains a 35% commission (20% going to IGAA). Payment to artists occurs 2-3 weeks after the exhibition closes. Gallery 924 insures all artwork for its wholesale value while on display or in storage.
