About This Call
GATHERING: Contemporary Glass from the Heartland is a juried exhibition open to artists with a connection to the region (Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin) by birth, residency, or schooling. Artists must be at least 18 years old. All artwork must be produced by the submitting artist and completed within the past two years, with glass as the main medium. If mixed media, 50% or more must include glass. Subject matter must be appropriate for viewing by audiences of all ages.
Artists may submit up to three works of art for a $35 non-refundable entry fee. Up to two digital images per artwork may be submitted. Artwork must be no larger than 48" in width; sculptures should not exceed 11 feet in height. Only artists with accepted artwork will be notified by email on or after August 18, 2013. The exhibition runs from October 19 through December 7, 2013, at the Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery (2300 South Washington Street, Kokomo, IN 46904). Gallery hours are Tuesday-Thursday 10am-4pm, Wednesday 10am-8pm, and Saturday 12pm-4pm (ET). An Artist's Reception and Awards Presentation will be held on Saturday, October 19 from 2pm-5pm (ET).
Artists compete for $2,500 in total cash awards. The Best in Show Award winner will receive the opportunity to be exhibited at Riley Galleries in Cleveland, OH. All artwork will be available for purchase unless designated "not for sale." The gallery processes sales and retains a 40% commission fee (including 10% to IGAA). Artwork delivery should occur between October 8-11, 2013, and pickup between December 10-12, 2013. Artists are responsible for delivery and pickup costs. Any work not picked up 30 days after the exhibition closes becomes property of the IU Kokomo Art Gallery.
