Gateway to the Rockies Art Show

The Gateway to the Rockies Art Show is an annual exhibition presented by the Aurora Artists Guild, the City of Aurora Cultural Services Division, and the Aurora History Museum. The show accepts original artwork in three categories: Two-Dimensional, Photography, and Miniatures.

Entry Requirements: Artists may submit 1-6 images (maximum 3 per category). Entry fee is $30 USD, with an additional $5 USD media fee per sample over the minimum. All artwork must have been completed within the last five years and cannot have been shown in any previous Gateway Art Show. Two-Dimensional artwork must be original fine art media (no class work, computer graphics, crafts, or sculpture) with a minimum size of 8"x10" and maximum frame size of 42" on any side. Photography must be original traditional, digital, or computer-enhanced work with the same size requirements. Miniatures follow Two-Dimensional rules with a maximum image size of 36 square inches and maximum inside frame size of 100 square inches. All artwork must be suitably framed and wired with eye screws or flat clips, with finished identification labels on the back.

Key Dates: Entry deadline is August 1, 2016. Acceptance notices will be emailed by August 25, 2016. Hand delivery of accepted artwork is September 17, 2016, 10 am-Noon. The show opens September 20, 2016, with a reception and awards ceremony on September 30, 2016, 5-7:30 pm. The exhibit closes November 5, 2016, at 4 pm, with artwork pickup on November 6, 2016, Noon-2 pm. Jurors are Randy Hale (2-D and Miniatures) and Quade Smith (Photography). Award certificates will be given for each category plus Best of Show, The Kate Tauer Award, AAG Award, and Aurora's First Lady Award. A 30% commission on sold work goes to the City of Aurora Cultural Services Division and the Aurora Museum Foundation. Artists are encouraged to maintain their own insurance for loss or damage during transport or display.
