About This Call
The City of Tamarac, Florida is seeking to commission an Artist or Artist team to create a vibrant sculpture for the entrance to Caporella Park's parking lot located at 5200 Prospect Road, Tamarac, Florida. The sculpture should be vibrant, colorful and impactful to pedestrians and passerby traffic both day and night. The sculpture will be the first art experience when visitors enter the parking lot.
The Call to Artists is expected to be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, up to three Artists will be shortlisted by the Selection Committee based on experience, credentials, style, and previous work. In the second phase, each shortlisted Artist will receive a $1,500 stipend for the development of a detailed proposal with conceptual design options. The selected Artist will be responsible for the creation and installation of the final work. The design must be approved by the City Commission.
The application deadline is Friday, March 6, 2026 and is open to all Professional Artists nationwide with experience working with public agencies and professional engineers. The project budget is $45,000, which includes all costs such as research, community and agency meetings, design, materials, permitting, fabrication, installation, photography, insurance, proposals, travel, sales taxes, labor, structural engineering, and transportation. Applicants should submit 3-10 images. The City prefers sculptures that demonstrate uniqueness, vibrant colors representing Tamarac, communication of the city's core identity as "The City For Your Life" and the unifying vision of "One Tamarac," symbols that communicate the city's welcoming, friendly and diverse community, and reflect that Tamarac is a thriving, diverse, progressive and forward-thinking city.
