About This Call

Gardenia 2023 is an online group exhibition celebrating botanical themes in art. The exhibition seeks all real and imaginary expressions of the botanical world, including plants, herbs, vegetables, forests, trees, grass, flowers, and landscapes. Themes include the natural world, landscapes, historical aspects of plants and flowers, cultural reflections, healing power of herbs and flowers, feeding and food supply, flower language and symbolism, and secret gardens. All 2D and 3D abstract and representational art in any medium is welcome.

Submission is free of charge. If selected, a USD 35 selection fee applies. Artists may submit up to 5 artworks, with a maximum of 2 artworks accepted per artist. Work sample requirements: minimum 1 image, maximum 5 images. Artworks must be original works created by the entrant without instructor supervision and must not be copies or derivatives of copyrighted work. Artworks created within the last 5 years are preferred, though there is no limit on creation year. There is no size limit for submitted artworks. All visual art categories are accepted including painting, drawing, landscapes, printmaking, illustration, photography, digital art, sculpture, metalsmithing, installation, crafts, jewelry, glass art, book art, land art, fiber art, textile arts, design, and mixed media. All styles and abstract or representational interpretations are welcome.

Selected artworks will be showcased in an online group exhibition from July 1 to August 31, 2023. Benefits for selected artists include promotion for artwork sales, publication in an online exhibition catalogue available internationally, digital exhibition poster and promotional badges, visitor reviews and ratings, exhibition promotion through press releases and social media, analytics reports on visitor engagement and sales statistics, potential publication in magazines and books, a free online artist profile page, and a digital certificate. Artworks that include pornography, violence, racial or religious hatred, or inappropriate or offensive content are not admissible.
