About This Call
The 28th Garage Sale Art Fair is designed for art fair artists to sell their overstocks, seconds, great work or just plain duds at bargain prices. Taking place in Kalamazoo, Michigan in February, this 7-hour event focuses on helping artists sell with eager customers looking for markdowns and great deals on artwork. Average attendance is 4,500 people based on paid attendance. Artists can rent tables and keep displays simple - no need for regular art fair booth setups. The venue provides folding chairs, Wi-Fi, and pizza during Friday setup.
This juried show accepts any art-related items including overstock, seconds, damaged items, and art supplies. Artists must apply with their primary type of work but can sell various art-related items. The Kalamazoo County Expo Center does not allow canopy tops or floor coverings. Setup is available Friday from 2:00-7:00 pm and Saturday from 7:00-8:30 am. Booth options include 10'x10' ($185), 15'x10' ($265), and 20'x10' ($350) with additional costs for electric ($25), corners ($25), and 8' table rentals ($5 each).
The show is run by The Guild of Artists & Artisans, a non-profit membership association supporting independent artists for over 50 years. Applications open in July through ZAPP, with approximately 140 booths available. The jury selects artists based on scores, with about 250 applications submitted annually. Artists can share booths but each person must apply separately and be accepted.
