About This Call
Gallery19 announces a call for entries for its first annual juried competition, Gallery19 Meed1, inviting photographers at all experience levels to submit work.
Theme: Kill The Messenger. Your work must examine the truths of our current global circumstance: isolationism eclipsing universality, fomenting uncertainty and fear—a moment ripe for renewed human optimism. Create a visual vocabulary which makes clear your engagement with the world around you.
Entry Requirements: $50 submission fee for 5 JPGs. Artists' statements and bio required. Artists selected as finalists will have their work exhibited and available for purchase at Gallery19 for the month of August, 2017.
Judge: Jennifer Murray, Executive Director of Filter Photo, will review all entries, select finalists, and announce the winner at an opening reception at Gallery19, Chicago, in August 2017.
Prizes: The winner receives a solo show at Gallery19 for August 2018, a one-year contract with Gallery19 including website exposure, multi-media promotion, social media, participation in gallery programming, and direct sales efforts. Jennifer Murray will mentor the winner for one year (August 4, 2017 through August 3, 2018), reviewing work and assisting in development of a gallery-ready exhibition.
Deadlines: Initial submissions due May 28, 2017. Finalists' framed works must reach Gallery19 by July 21, 2017. Finalists will be posted on the Gallery19 website by July 1, 2017 and notified by email and phone.
