About This Call
Gallery One Visual Arts Center announces their seventh national juried exhibition. Entries in the category of cups with a conscience will be accepted from across the nation and juried by Richard Notkin and Beth Lo for inclusion in a month-long exhibition, March 2021 in the main gallery of Gallery One in downtown Ellensburg, WA.
The exhibition seeks cups, mugs, tumblers, tea bowls, and vessels created in any medium (clay, glass, wood, metal, etc.) that go beyond merely being a container for your favorite beverage. Works should draw attention to causes both personal, local and global or reflect on aspects of being human in today's complicated world. $800 in awards will be distributed: $300 for Most Innovative Message, $200 for Best Traditional Approach, $200 for Best Non-Traditional Approach, and $100 for Award of Merit. The top three award recipients will also receive a custom ceramic tile by Richard Notkin, and a slideshow of accepted works will be posted on the gallery's website. Opportunities for lectures and workshops may be offered to artists to accompany the exhibition, in addition to a virtual artist reception with jurors.
Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the USA. All work must have been completed within the last three years. Entry fee is $20 for up to five digital images (including two detail shots). If accepted, artists may ship up to five cups of their choosing in the same material and style as their submission. Artwork is encouraged but not required to be for sale. Artists who list work for sale will receive a 60% commission of the retail value via check within a month after the close of the show. The maximum value of artwork to be shown is $10,000 regardless if it is for sale or not. Artists are responsible for round trip shipping and insurance during shipping. Gallery One will insure artworks for the artist's commission value (60% of retail value) while on the premises. Jury result notifications will be sent via email by February 8, 2021. Exhibition dates are March 5-27, 2021. Contact Gallery One at 509-925-2670 or [email protected] with questions.
