About This Call

Gallery of Dreams Artist in Residence Program 2024 is open to all artists living and working in Fort Worth, TX. The selected artist will receive studio space at Fort Works Art Gallery from July 1 to September 30, 2024, a $7,500 cash award, and a monthly stipend for supplies. The residency concludes with a solo exhibition at Fort Works Art Gallery (exhibition date TBD). The program is made possible by a generous grant from The Arts Fund of the North Texas Community Foundation and Fort Works Art.

Artist requirements include presenting two paid public lectures, allowing students and community visitors to observe and interact while working in the studio, and maintaining a minimum of 15 hours in the studio during Gallery business hours. Resident artists must keep their studios accessible to public interaction on Saturdays and one additional day of the week (TBD), as well as during exhibition openings and educational programs. Residents are responsible for studio upkeep and general housekeeping. Additional opportunities include discussions with curators and gallery owners, exposure at Fort Works Art events, and interactions with visiting art professionals.

Applications require a one-page letter of intent, resume (three pages or less), one-page artist statement, 20 images (one wide shot and one detail of 10 works), and a $35 entry fee. Applicants must submit 10-20 images and may submit up to 3 videos. The selection committee includes Benito Huerta, Artist and retired Professor/Director/Curator at the University of Texas at Arlington, and Leticia Huckaby, Photographer and Co-founder of KinFolk House.
