Gallatin Art Crossing 2019 Call for Artists

Gallatin Art Crossing (GAC) invites artists to submit work for the 2019-20 exhibition and installation program. Selected pieces will be displayed in downtown Bozeman, Montana for one year and available for sale during that time. The submission fee is $15 per piece, with an application deadline of June 8, 2019. Installation and reception will take place in August 2019 (August 26-30). Pieces must be ready to install and able to withstand outdoor conditions without maintenance for one year.

Artwork may be in any media and must be durable and sustainable to withstand the elements and interaction with the public. Works may be functional or non-functional. All pieces must demonstrate structural soundness, safety, and stability for an unsupervised general audience, fit into a downtown setting, and be guaranteed against defects and deterioration. Selected sculptures will be displayed with a plaque containing the artist name and program information. GAC will provide signage, feature the artist on their website, and include the artist on a mobile tour.

GAC will offer $1,000 stipends to all new artists for 2019, distributed within 30 days after the opening reception. Lodging for out-of-town artists is available upon request. The artist is responsible for transportation and installation/decommissioning of the artwork. GAC handles all sales and retains 35% commission, which decreases by 5% per year the piece remains on display (minimum 20% after 3 years). A People's Choice Award of $500 will be given to the winning piece, voted on online. GAC aims to purchase at least one piece annually for its permanent collection. Artists grant GAC irrevocable reproduction rights and permissions for photographs, videos, and digital images taken during the installation period. Notification of acceptance will be provided no later than 14 days after the submission deadline.
