About This Call
Gallatin Art Crossing (GAC) invites artists to submit work for the 2018-19 exhibition and installation program. Selected pieces will be displayed in downtown Bozeman, Montana for one year (August 2018-August 2019) and will be available for sale during that time. The submission fee is $15 per piece, with an application deadline of June 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Installation and reception will take place in August. Artists will be notified of acceptance no later than 14 days after the submission deadline.
Artwork must be durable and sustainable to withstand outdoor conditions and pedestrian interaction without maintenance for a minimum of one year. Works may be in any media and can be functional or non-functional. All sculptures must demonstrate structural soundness, safety, and stability for an unsupervised general audience and must fit into a downtown setting. Sculptures require a substantial base plate or flanges that allow for 5/8" or 3/4" bolted connections, as GAC anchors all work to preexisting concrete pads using 1/2" hardware. All displayed sculptures will include a plaque with the artist name and program information.
GAC will provide $1,000 stipends to all new artists, distributed within 30 days after the opening reception. Hotels and meals for out-of-town artists are available upon request; artists are responsible for transportation and installation/decommissioning of their work. GAC handles all sales and retains 35% commission, decreasing by 5% per year the piece remains on display (minimum 20% after three years). A People's Choice Award of $500 will be given to the winning sculpture, selected through online voting. Artists must submit 2-5 images of each piece, including at least one photo of the sculpture base and attaching areas, along with an artist statement. Questions should be directed to [email protected].
