Gallatin Art Crossing 2016 Call for Artists

Gallatin Art Crossing (GAC) invites artists to submit work for the 2016-17 exhibition and installation program. Selected artwork will be displayed in downtown Bozeman, Montana for one year (August 2016-August 2017) and available for sale during that time. The submission fee is $15 per piece, with an application deadline of June 30, 2016. Installation and reception will be held on August 12th. Pieces must be ready to install and sustainable outdoors without maintenance for one year.

Works may be in any media and must be durable and able to withstand the elements and interaction with the public. Artwork must demonstrate structural soundness, safety, and stability for an unsupervised general audience; be guaranteed against defects and deterioration; fit into a downtown setting; and attach by weld or bolt. All selected sculptures will be displayed with a plaque containing the artist name and program information. GAC will provide signage, feature the artist on the website and mobile tour, and offer $1,000 stipends to all new artists, distributed within 30 days after the opening reception. Hotels and meals for out-of-town artists are available upon request. The artist is responsible for transportation, installation, and decommissioning of the artwork.

Eligibility is open to professional and emerging artists or artist teams living or working in the United States and Canada. Applicants may submit up to three sculptures for consideration (up to 5 applications allowed). Each year, sculptures are voted on online for the People's Choice Award, with the winner receiving a $500 grant towards artist marketing. GAC will handle all sales to the public and retain 40% of the agreed-upon price. One of GAC's goals is to purchase at least one piece each year for the permanent collection. The artist is responsible for maintenance and repairs during the exhibition and for all insurance coverage in case of vandalism, theft, damage, or natural occurrences.
